God gave His best Gift when He gave Jesus
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Wonderful – meaning marvelously miraculous, Jesus’ birth was a marvelous miracle and He performs miracles in our lives. Every time someone is born-again the highest and greatest miracle of all is performed. “The beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.” John 2:11
Counselor – Holy Spirit is our Comforter and our Guide. Jesus went to the Father so that He could send the Holy Spirit to be our Counselor – to simultaneously, yet individually and uniquely minister to each one who is called. “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26
The mighty God – Jesus is a valiant warrior and He is God, yet He wrapped Himself in humanity to come and redeem mankind. He is the One who fights for us and intercedes on our behalf. He overcame death, hell, and the grave.
Philippians 2:5-11: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The everlasting Father – Jesus is the image of God, Head over all, eternal King, perpetual Chief. He told His disciples when they asked to see the Father, “if you’ve seen me you’ve seen the Father,” (John 14:9). “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature…and he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” Colossians 1:15 and 18
The Prince of Peace – He is the Ruler and Shepherd of our prosperity, favor, health, wealth, safety, rest Jesus is all that and more. “The thief comes only to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
Beloved, my prayer for you this Christmas is that you would come to know and experience fully all that God has given in the Gift of His Son Christ Jesus.
