Have you ever prayed in faith according to the will and the promises of God, and yet things opposite of what you prayed began to happen? When it seems as if all is well and then as if suddenly, all hell breaks loose and things begin going the opposite direction of our prayers it’s a sign that bad seeds have been sown. When these things happen you may questions how it could be. Beloved, these are the weeds sown by our enemy the devil. Though they appear to be sudden occurrences of trouble, they are not.
While you were sleeping
While we are sleeping spiritually, lulled by the distractions of the world our enemy sows seeds of his evil will, (opposing seed) to the will of the Lord. He gets in through the doors we leave open by our disobedience, lack of prayer, and wrong words and actions. What we see a little things, he understands are seeds. He waters the negatives we allow into our lives so they can take root and begin to grow. However, what we can’t see, Jesus can. He sees all things, He sees our enemy and He sees us. He warns us to wake up before it’s too late, but many times we refuse.
Waiting for the harvest
Any time one thing is pulled up whatever is sown next to it is in danger of being rooted up with it. Later in this parable the servant asks where the weeds came from. The master knew right away that an enemy had sown them. When the servant asked if he should pull up the weeds his master told him to let them stay until the time of harvest. So, the evil seeds were allowed to grow until the time of harvest. (See Mathew 13:27-29)
Harvest Time
The Lord of the Harvest does not leave us without hope. He is wiser than our enemy and He is always a step ahead of him. The rest of the parable goes on to say that at the time of harvest all the fruit– that of the enemy and that of the Master, will be gathered by the reapers. The weeds will be separated, bound and burned but the wheat will be gathered into the Lord’s barn! (See Matthew 13:30)
Seedtime and harvest
Though this parable refers to souls and the end times, it is a principle of the timeless law of sowing and reaping – seedtime and harvest. “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease,” Genesis 8:22. What applies to the Lord’s final harvest applies to all harvests, including what is sown into our lives.
Wake Up!
If you are going through something that has shaken faith and it feels like you’re under attack, Wake Up! Though you may be surprised, it is not a surprise to our Lord. Know that the Lord of the Harvest will deal with what the enemy has sown in the time He has set. Until then continue to sow God’s Word which is the incorruptible seed, and no matter what the enemy sow, what you sow in faith will spring up.
Beloved, this is His promise:
For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55: 10, 11
