Why do you worship Jesus? Is it because you desire something from Him or because you desire Him? Like the mother of the sons of Zebedee who came to Jesus “worshiping Him, and desiring a certain thing of Him,” Matthew 20:20, if you are worshiping Jesus with hidden motives know that He is seeking those that will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, (John 4:24).
The word “truth” in Greek means: “without concealing things.” She concealed her real reason for worshiping Him. But He already knew she wanted something He couldn’t give her before she asked Him for it, (See John 20:21-23). This is because she wasn’t seeking His will she was seeking her own. If she had come to Him in Spirit and in Truth she would have known not to ask for her will but for His.

It’s fine to ask the Lord for whatever you need or desire of Him, as long as it is according to His will (1 John 5:14-15).
The Lord will give us the desires of our heart that are according to His will and plan for us because it is His pleasure to give us the things of the Kingdom that He has assigned to us. However, if you are seeking Him with secret motives and wrong desires in your heart know that He sees them but not even worship will make Him change His mind if it’s not according to His will. If it is granted to you it will be against His will and plan for you and could result in your hurt and loss.
Beloved, seek the Lord in Spirit and Truth and allow Him to show His will for you, this is what you want, this is what is best for you.
