Jesus prayed for us, “That they (meaning we) all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us,” John 17:21.
The thing about being one with God is that you cannot be one with Him and one with the world. When you try you become divided and there is no peace for a divided soul.
The Bible says, “Can two walk together unless they are in agreement?” Amos 3:3.
Even in an agreement one will have yield to the other because only one can lead. If your desire for a thing, a person a place is not in agreement with God’s will for you there will come a point when you will have to choose. The Bible clearly tells us the we cannot serve two masters – God and other things, for we will hate the first and despise the second or we will be devoted to one and despise the other (Matthew 6:24).
Sometimes having peace will mean being alone.
In order to obtain and even maintain the peace of God that comes through yielding and unifying with His divine will you will have to let some people and things go.
However, many people try to find and make peace with the world because they don’t want to give up their way of doing things. But Jesus said, those that try gain their life will eventually end up losing it to what they’re running after but those that give up their life for His sake and the Kingdom sake will save it, (Luke 9:24).
The peace that the world offers is not lasting and can be easily disturbed.
While it may seem peaceable for a season peace that comprises with the world’s system will cost you your eternal life. On the other hand God’s peace comes at a cost but we gain so much more than we give up.
Beloved, it is up to you. If you will truly experience God’s peace it will come through self-surrendered. Will you let God lead? If you do His promise is peace that passes all understanding.
