When God calls you to do something for Him it may, for a while seem like what you’re doing is small in comparison to the dream or vision He showed you.
But God’s rejoices as much in small beginnings as He does in big endings because He loves it when His children step out of faith to follow Him.
Zechariah 4:10 NLT says, “Do not despise small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…”
It’s important not to despise or look down upon small beginnings. Even if you’re in the middle or at the end of a thing and it still seems small, you can enjoy the journey if let God lead you in what He called you to do. This is easy to do when you focus on the One who called you and remember that it’s from Him that you will receive your reward.
But often we want to take things into our own hands when we face obstacles we don’t understand or it looks like things are at a standstill.
However, try as we might, if it’s a God thing, no matter how big or small it may seem it’s only by His grace, not our might or our power that we are able to finish the works He calls us to do.
In this week’s episode of Holy Calling Podcast, I’m sharing from the book of Zachariah why small beginnings are an important part of our growth in Christ. Check it out for more encouragement.
God rewards faithfulness and stick-to-itiveness (my mom used this word a lot!) in the small things.
The truth is, sometimes God allows things to remain the same until He knows you’re ready for the bigger portion.
But His promise is this, “You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you so you will be the ruler of much as your reward,” Luke 19:17.
It’s more important to focus on what God called you to do than to try to build bigger things and set bigger goals or do things He never called you to do so you look successful to other people.
Job 8:7 says, “Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.”
Beloved, if you trust and obey Him, God will help you accomplish His plan and the latter end will be greater than when you first began.
