To All God’s Daughters
Jesus wants to have a deeper relationship with you. He wants you to understand who you are, He wants you to take hold of your inheritance and live victoriously. God owns the whole earth and everything and everyone in it (Psalm 24:1) but He wanted a family of people set apart for Him, so He made a way to adopt sons and daughters. When we become His children we gain an inheritance among those who are His (Acts 20:32).
Eternity starts now.
John 17:3 says, “This is eternal life that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
When most people think of eternal life they think of where they will spend eternity after the leave this earth. The truth is eternity starts now. Eternal life is not some time in the distant heavenly future. God offers the reality of eternal life in the here and now through knowing Him and Jesus.
As soon as we accept Christ as our Savior we receive eternal life. However, most people stop at receiving salvation from their sins. But God has so much more He wants us to receive, things that He has in store just us. He sent Jesus into the world to die for us so we could be saved from eternal punishment but also so we can know Him in a more intimate way. Now, in this life and in the life to come because without knowing Him there is no eternal life.
Your works will never replace your relationship with Him but if you cultivate a relationship with the Lord He will lead into the good works He has planned for you.
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness. Matthew 7:21-23
To know God
To know God is to be absolutely aware of Him, feel Him, have knowledge of Him, be able to speak about Him, be sure of Him, and understand Him. For God to know you is for you to willingly allow Him into your intimate places to have this same awareness and familiarity with you. Though He knows everything about you, He won’t force you to enter into a close relationship with Him. He waits for you to let Him in and begin that deeper fellowship with Him. This is how we build a relationship with Him.
A beautiful inheritance
As we become more aware of Him in every aspect of our lives and we become more knowledgeable of His ways, we become more sure of Him and we are then able to receive more and more of the inheritance He has stored up for those who believe.
Our inheritance includes so many things but most importantly we receive Him. In Him we get everything we need and desire. He becomes our portion.
The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:5-6, 11
Can you see that this inheritance is based on relationship and not works.
We also receive His blessing, the authority and the right to use His name. We receive unconditional love, acceptance and favor. We receive His image grafted into our spirits so we can reflect His beautiful likeness in our character and all our ways.
Beloved, what are you waiting for? Don’t be afraid; take one step deeper, closer to God. If you come near to Him, He will come near to you. That is His promise.
