Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. Luke 1:45
After you’ve come to God in faith believing that He is who He says He is and that He has heard and answered your prayer, once you are position in the place of rest that only comes to those who believe in God can obtain and you are proclaiming the word that God tells you to speak, as you allow patience to do its work in you and for you God will perform His promise.
The word performance means: to begin and carry through to completion, to fulfill.
The thing about God and the reason you need patience even when God begins to perform his promise is that God can perform His word any way He sees fit. He can do it suddenly in one moment or He can do it little by little.
Little by little
The phrase “little by little” means: bit by bit, in small amounts, not all at once
“Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land.” Exodus 23:30
When God does a thing little by little, it is no less a manifestation of answered prayer then if it happens suddenly. Sometimes He will even start a thing little by little and right when we think it will take a long time He will finish it swiftly.
This is why the Bible tells us not to despise these small beginnings, (Zechariah 4:10).
It is like when you pray for healing and it begins to come little by little but then because you respond in faith instead of frustration to God’s process suddenly your complete healing comes upon you and what you thought would take days or even weeks because of how it started is done overnight?
When the answer comes little by little we have to keep praying until the fullness comes upon us.
Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’” And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel. 1 Kings 18:43-45
Don’t get discouraged just keep praying and believing. It might take a while but once God starts something he will complete it!
Suddenly
The word “suddenly” means: instantly, a wink, quickly, unexpectedly, unawares, not manifested.
“I have declared the former things from the beginning; they went forth from My mouth, and I caused them to hear it. Suddenly I did them, and they came to pass. Isaiah 48:3
Though God can and many times does perform His word quickly, in the blink of an eye, at miracle speed, manifesting unexpectedly what was not manifested before and bringing it to completion by His own power the word “suddenly” doesn’t necessarily mean the time between your prayer or God’s promise and the performance, but rather the process of the performance itself of God’s Word.
The Lord declared things from the beginning and then later at another time suddenly they came to pass. This goes to show that when things suddenly happen in the natural, physical realm God has already been preparing things in the unseen spiritual realm and they are ready to be made manifest.
When Paul and Silas were in jail the Bible says, “At midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.” Acts 16:25, 26
God always works within His own plan when He can find somebody to work with. Though they spent some time in jail, when it was time for them to go, God acted quickly, swiftly and without delay.
Beloved, it doesn’t matter if God does is suddenly or little by little know that He will perform His Word to you at the set time.
