Go said, âLet there be Light,â and there was Light. Genesis 1:3
When God spoke, âLet there be Light,â He was not only commanding the darkness but also the chaos in the earth to allow His Light to come in. My simplified definition for this âLightâ is: to illuminate with understanding.
Once light shines on a thing not only can you see whatâs wrong but with Godâs Light you can also see how to fix it. After God spoke forth the first Light which came directly from Him, the source of all light, the Father of lights (James 1: 17) He then began to call the elements of creation into divine order through wisdom and understanding which the Bible tells us was with God when He laid the foundation of the earth (Job 38:4). This is the Light that brings all good understanding and good things into existence.
Darkness can be described as the state in which chaos is allowed to exist.
The Hebrew word for darkness âchôshekâ from the story of Creation is defined as: âmisery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness, night, obscurity,â (Strongâs Heb. Dict.) John 1:5 says of Jesus, âThe Light shined in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.â Why? Because men love darkness rather than light (John 3:19), meaning itâs easier to stay stuck then do the work and walk in obedience to get unstuck.
With this in mind my âone wordâ description for last week is: Light
After reevaluating my priorities and regaining my focus through the process of de-cluttering my personal and spiritual space in weeks one and two, not only did I find things that were lost, I even found valuable jewelry I thought I had long-since lost and I was also was able to uncover spiritual treasurers (Truth principles) that had been placed in my spirit but were unable to work in my life because they were buried (made obscure) in the clutter and chaos of my busy life.
Understanding goes beyond knowledge to find a solution.
Unless light shines in our darkness we will continue to fumble around. The only way to gain understanding in the areas you’ve been struggling in is to make room for Godâs Light to come into your dark places. This is what it took for me.
In my experience last week it wasn’t that I did not know what was out-of-order in my life, the problem was how to call things back into order and make them stay, the way God did, the way He expects us to â by understanding. However, when the Light of Godâs Word comes so does understanding, it shines on the very root of the issues and also brings with it the understanding of how, why and what solutions to implement – His Word and His principles.
Maybe, one day I can share the very issues and understanding God gave, but not right now. Itâs too precious to me personally. However, Beloved, my prayer for you is simply this, that you would âLet there be Light.â
