When the life you planned falls apart God can help you move forward by faith and rebuild the broken pieces of your life if you will trust in Him.
Life isn’t always fair and sometimes things don’t work out the way we plan, but what happens after the life you thought you were going to live falls apart is up to you. You can stay stuck in a rut of blame and shame or you can move forward and rebuild your life. I know because I’ve been there and things didn’t change until I made a choice to do something about it.
God has a promise for those that follow Him. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
Healing is a process that takes time and spiritual and mental energy.
Beginning again and living a life of wholeness doesn’t happen over night. If it took you a while to get into a situation that left you broken it’s fair to assume that even if you come out physically, it will take some time and work to get yourself into a place of freedom and wholeness mentally, emotionally, and spiritually again.
Here are five steps that will help you get started on your journey to rebuild the broken pieces of your life:
The first thing you have to do is admit failure.
This doesn’t mean you have to accept defeat and that you can’t have faith for restoration. However, sometimes what we call faith is denial. The problem with this is that you can’t rebuild if you don’t realistically assess the damage, and you can’t do that until you are willing to admit the failure.
Once you are willing to admit that things aren’t what God or you intended you can start the process of evaluation.
This should be a time of reflection in which you, without blaming yourself or others review in honesty how things got to where they are. This process should forgiving yourself and others.
Next, it’s time to go before the One who knows the end from the beginning to get His plan for your future.
Just like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, sometimes we hide from God when we make mistakes but he sees us anyway. When He asks you where at and what’s been going on He already knows, He just wants to see if you will tell Him. He is waiting for you to come into His Presence to get His plan for your future.
Be willing to listen and do what the Lord tells you.
Most of the time when God gives us solutions to our problems it involves us, not others, doing something different. This is because in most situations no matter who’s at fault, before things can change for us we have to change. So, do yourself a favor and don’t focus on others, do what He tells you to work on yourself.
Be patient.
Rebuilding your life is much like replanting a garden, even though there has been fruit in past seasons and the soil may still be fertile, new seed still need time to bring forth fruit. The Bible says, “Do not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart,” Galatians 6:9.Beloved, if you keep working toward rebuilding your life and don’t give up, your efforts will pay off in due time.
