As I was worshiping the Lord on the altar Sunday at my local church the Spirit of the Lord began to speak to me like He does quite often but this time He referred to Himself as the seven Spirits of God:
“And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth,” Rev 5:6.
“Before the throne was burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God,” Rev 4:5.
The seven Spirits of God
Not only was the word significant that He released into my spirit but also the fact that He referred to Himself as the seven Spirits of God. When I asked Him about the seven Spirits, He said the seven Spirits search out the heart of man to, to judge, with knowledge and understanding, to cause people to choose rightly.
Isaiah 11:2 speaking of the Lord Jesus says, “The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord.” These are the seven Spirits of God that together demonstrate the fullness of the Godhead, “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,” Colossians 2:9.
It is an awesome thing when the Fullness of God’s Spirit searches for anything because He can do it by the Spirit of the Lord alone or any facet of His multifaceted Spirit. This means He is looking for something special, but His reward is with Him.
The prophetic Word He released to my spirit is this:
“Thus says the seven Spirits of God, ‘Many people have one thing that they have not given over to me. I search the heart and the mind says God and there’s one thing that you have not released, one thing that you are still sitting on like Rachel sat on her idol as they left her father’s house headed to the land of promise (Genesis 31:32), like the rich rule who would not let go of earthly riches to gain riches of eternal value (Luke 18:20-14), there is an open door set before you but you cannot go in with the idols that you are carrying, the idols that you have been worshiping, the one thing that you have not let go of.”
Many of you know what that one thing is. It must be brought down, let go, and surrender to God, otherwise you will not make it into the open door. God showed me this example to let us know that we cannot take the idols of our past into the place that God is calling us to go.
Idols and Open Doors
An idol is anything that keeps you from loving God in fully; anything that God has asked you to give Him that you have not been willing to release, anything that takes your attention away from God.
You know what your idol is. It may be one thing or it may be more but you know what it is that you have not let go of. It could even be something that is dear to you. Just know this; it isn’t a sacrifice if it did not cost you anything.
A spiritual door is a portal, a gate, or an entrance to the next place of destiny that one can only be bid to come through by God alone.
God says, “Give it to me because there’s more head of you than what I’m asking you to leave behind.”
Beloved, there is an open door set before you but you cannot enter in hiding that thing and thinking God doesn’t see it. It will keep you out of the open door. If you have any idols in your life I beseech you to lay them on the holy altar of God’s throne so that you can move forward into what He has for you.
