I decided to start reading a book a month, those that will foster spiritual growth and personal development as well as help me work toward my goals. I have to limit myself to one because I love to read! Well, maybe two, haha.
The  book I just finished reading, Uncommon Marriage by Lauren and Tony Dungy is for anyone who is married, wants to get married or has been married and wants to do it again, right, better, forever…
Why I choose this book:I would like to get married again. Now I understand myself better, I’m confident in who I am as a woman and who Christ is in me, and therefore I now know what I want and need in a husband. This book helped me to see what love is supposed to BE like between two Christians and the benefits and values when it’s put into practice. Â
I zipped through this 229 page book pretty quickly, in just two days.
It’s an awesome story of their love from the beginning to the present.
They are both strong Christians and made Christ the center of their marriage. There are many takeaways throughout the book but in the back they also complied a list of advice with Scripture references and references back to pages in the book to point out how they’ve used Biblical principles/guidance throughout their marriage to work through differences, hard times, and life itself.
A few things without giving away the whole story:Â They met through Lauren’s pastor at the time. They were both Christians and knew exactly what they were looking for when they met each other. Ever since they got married they’ve always made time to spend together, just the two of them. They always have a solid church home, and even when they moved a lot with the NFL they made it a priority to find one that fit their needs. They always make time pray together and stay involved in their local church together, especially Bible Studies.
Lauren was a teacher and obviously loves children. They have seven adopted children plus their own children. Talk about the love of God, They feel as if they have enough love, enough blessings and can care for these children, especially black children because they are the least children requested for adoption.
They’re the real deal.
Entertaining, enlightening, and endearing. Loved it. Highly recommended!
There is also a Bible Study that can be purchased if you want to go deeper.
