The Bible describes balance as the evenness or stability of life.
Peter said, “Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour,” (1 Peter 5:8 AMP).
A balanced life is one in which your time and tasks are prioritized and distributed according to God’s purposes for your live.
A life of surrendered balance is realized when you learn to put God first and surrender your time and tasks to Him and let Him order your steps.
However, of modern-day busyness, living both a surrendered and a balanced life is not always easy, but we must have both if we are to live victorious Christian lives and remain stable in our faith.
Many women are trying to run their own lives without asking God about His plans, and as a result they are out of touch with God, over-worked and unbalanced.
The surrender the Lord asks of us is to put our trust in Him and yield with a willing heart. This kind of surrender is giving oneself up into the power of another, as a willing participant.
If you are weary of being burdened down, and you feel like you’re missing out on the important things in life because of all the activities of a busy schedule the Lord says,
Everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing]. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy]. Incline your ear [submit and consent to the divine will] and come to Me; hear, and your soul will revive; and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you, even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill, and compassion) promised to David. Isaiah 55:1-3 (AMP)
The spiritual food Isaiah was referring to is the Bread of Life, Jesus Christ and the blessings are those that come from yielding to the Divine will.
No money can buy what the Lord offers, no self achievements can obtain His blessing; the only way to get it is through surrender. However, He will not make you forcibly surrender, nor will He hold you captive against your will.
Lay Your Burdens Down
Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-29
If you are heavy laden; meaning overloaded and overburdened, if you work until you’re fatigued and allow yourself to get wearied to the point of spiritual anxiety, Jesus wants to give you rest and carry your burdens. He invites you to give them to Him and take on His yoke instead.
A yoke is beam that was used to connect a pair of scales around the necks of a pair of oxen to keep them coupled together while working. The two animals were tied together so that they had to work together for things to get done. However, one always dominated the other, making one animal the leader.
Jesus wants you to yoke yourself with Him and allow Him lead you and to take charge of you burdens – your responsibilities and your dreams and goals, all of your hopes and your fears so that you can rest while He does the hard work and gives you the lighter burden of following Him.
Beloved, when you yield to the Lord in this way you get so much more than you give up. You get the simple and worry-free life that only comes when only comes through surrender.
