Blessed be the LORD: for He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city. Psalm 31:21
His Marvelous Kindness
The kindness of the Lord is described in the Hebrew vernacular as “chesed” meaning
beauty, favor, faithfulness, good deed, loving-kindness, compassion, goodness and
merciful – from a root word that means to “bow the neck in courtesy and kindness”
A “marvelous” (pâlâ’) act is the great, difficult, wonderful, hard, hidden, too high,
beyond reach, miraculous, wondrous things performed, completed, and accomplished
by God.
The marvelous kindness of the Lord, then, is the great, difficult, wonderful, hard,
hidden, too high, miraculous, wondrous, complete accomplished mercifulness,
faithfulness, beautiful good deeds, compassionate goodness, favor, and loving-
kindness of God shown to us in His bowing low to hear our prayers in times of trouble.
Hope in a Hard Place
This is why David said this marvelous kindness was shown to him in a strong city, a city that had hemmed him in, a besieged city. In a hard place and what seemed like a hopeless situation, because David chose to call on the Lord and continue to put his hope in God’s mercy, God did marvelous acts of kindness to the point of miracles to rescue him. In this the Lord showed David His loving-kindness.
There is the kindness that He shows to ever soul under heaven, then there’s the kindness that He shows to those in covenant with Him, but this kindness that He has released in this hour is for those that feel forgotten or have been faithful while enduring hardships but continue to hope in the Lord.
Prepare for the Kindness of the Lord
He is pouring out His unexpected marvelous kindness. This kindness that is passing over us is like the goodness of God that passed before Moses. As His Presences passes before you, expect miracles and breakthroughs, divine reversals and divine intervention in your family situations, finances, health, legal issues, in prayers that have seemingly gone unanswered or whatever area you have a need in.
If you read Psalm 31 in its entirety you will see the hopelessness and yet hopefulness of David during the time he was in a hard place. He put his trust in the Lord when things were beyond his control and a strong enemy had laid a trap for him. He called upon the Lord to be merciful and show kindness upon kindness, beyond what He had already done. David asked for miracles and the Lord delivered with a strong hand.
Beloved, if you are in a hard place in which your enemy is too strong for you, remember that we serve a mighty, marvelous God who is able to perform miracles. He has given a Word for this time, and it is this, “that He has released His kindness upon His people NOW!” So prepare by continuing steadfast in prayer, hope, and expectancy that the Lord will answer your call for mercy, if necessary by way of miracles.
