One of the biggest reasons women deal with low self-esteem issues is the silent competition of the heart.
We secretly check other women out to see if they are prettier or smarter. If they are married we check to see how big their ring is, who they’re married to, what they drive, where they live, the list could go on.
If we feel we don’t measure up these imaginary standards or that someone may be doing better than us we make mental notes to fix our hair better, work on our weight, to dress nicer or to do better in whatever area we feel we are lacking. we devise plans to “keep with the Joneses,” as the saying goes.
A spirit of completion does two things.
It makes us afraid to help other women because we think they might get ahead of us and it makes us miserable when we spend our time focusing on how we can make ourselves seem more successful and look like we have it more together than other women. When we should instead be busy running our own race.
Some women make themselves miserable thinking about what they don’t have or what they think people think of them, when in reality if someone is spending time thinking that much about you they have bigger problems than you.
The devil plants an inferiority complex within women to make us feel like we have to do more, be more, have more before we “arrive.” he uses different events and words to make sure the seed takes root and grows. Many women women live their lives in a continual competition with other women who don’t realize they are someone else’s opponent.
Thee Beautiful Truth
There is a solution for the spirit of competition among women: believe that what God has for you is for you.
It doesn’t matter what other women have, what they look like, how much farther ahead in life they seem to be than you because the God who knew you in your mother’s womb pre-planned your days. He has blessings that only you can obtain. He has a crown with your name on it waiting for you to finish your own race.
Your race is an individual one not a completion, all you have to do is finish.
God has a beautiful inheritance prepared just for you but it’s not in your sister’s lane. It’s in your own lane. There’s room on God’s field for everyone to run their race.
The apostle Paul said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
STOP looking at other women.
If you try to run someone else’s race by doing what they are doing you will be distraction from doing what God has called you to and you may never make it to your finished line. Beloved, God wants you to finish your race and He wants you to help your sisters finish theirs.
