The sound of wind blowing on my garden is beautiful to my ears and the fragrant scent is so powerful I can almost taste the aroma as I breathe in the wind. But I think to myself, for what has He come. As long as the Wind comes in peace, to breathe life and not to uproot my garden then I welcome the Wind. Whether or not I welcome Him, I know He still blows where He is sent.
“What is your business here Mr. Wind,” I asked as He beckoned at my garden gate.
He replied, “I come in peace to bring the scattered things back together, to form, and to breathe life.”
So I said to Him as He blew on me and through me and in me, almost blowing me over but in a refreshing and cleansing sort of way, “Then you are welcome, stay as long as you would like, until the Master bids you back.”
He responded as only One of the Three could, “I came to blow on your garden as you command me. Whatever you prophesy I will bring forth,” in this I detected the voice of the Spirit, so I stood at attention.
Then I prophesied to my garden to grow and to multiply. I prophesied to the Wind to bring back the scattered things of my life and to breathe life into that which is gathered. I spoke to the fragrance of my life to be a sweet-smelling aroma.
Then He said to me, “The season of these winds will cease and it will be for a time before they begin to blow in such a way again. While I am hovering continue prophesying until you see what you said.”
What the Bible says about the Wind
The Bible speaks of the different forces of the wind. God can send a life-giving wind or He can send winds of calamity.
Life Giving Wind
In the book of Ezekiel the Lord speaks to him in the valley of dry bones to prophesy to the bones and to the breath of the four winds.
Again He said to me, Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the LORD.” So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them. Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.” Ezekiel 37:4- 10
What Jesus said of the Wind
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit,” John 3:8.
The Four Winds
The North and South Winds
“Awake, O north wind, and come, O south! Blow upon my garden, that its spices may flow out. Let my Beloved come to His garden and eat its pleasant fruits.” Song of Solomon 4:6
The East Wind
“Behold, it is planted, Will it thrive? Will it not utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the garden terrace where it grew.” Ezekiel 17:10
The West Wind
“And the Lord turned the wind into a very strong west wind, which lifted the locusts and drove them into the Red Sea. Not a single locust was left in all the country of Egypt.” Exodus 10:19
A Prayer for Personal, Spirit-breathed Revival
Beloved, may you welcome the Wind of the Spirit into the garden of your life to breathe afresh Holy Spirit revival into your life, to bring together again that which has been scattered, to shake loose anything that weighs you down, and to cause a beautiful fragrance to come forth from your growth mixed with God’s grace.
