It may be hard to believe that you are enough, just as God made you without all the added extras that your insecurities try to tell you-you need. But the truth is, you are.
However, if we don’t believe we are accepted by God because of His grace, we will try to earn His acceptance instead of simply stepping into it. If we don’t learn to accept ourselves with all our imperfections and feel secure in who we are, we will always strive to be more, do more, and have more in order to feel worthy.
If we don’t learn to accept ourselves with all our imperfections and feel secure in who we are, we will always strive to be more, do more, and have more in order to feel worthy.
We will constantly compare ourselves to others and never be content with who we are and what we have. We will never see ourselves as worthy of total acceptance from others without feeling the need to pretend, if necessary, to be what they expect of us until we understand what it means to be accepted by God. We will compromise who God created us to be to gain the acceptance of people.
If we don’t believe that we are beautiful without all the pretense and pomp, we will focus on outer beauty and never learn to nurture the beauty in our hearts.
We will try to fix our appearance: make-up, clothes, and hair, and never allow God to fix what’s broken in our hearts.
If we don’t believe that God loves us, we will approach Him through religion instead of relationship.
We won’t believe that He cares enough about us to personally care what happens to us. We won’t believe that He wants what’s best for us or that He wants to answer our prayers and fulfill the desires of our hearts.
The truth is that you are accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6) and that makes you enough.
You have to believe this about and God and yourself. The people who are meant to be a part of your life and nurture God’s good plan for you already know this. Ask God to connect you with those who will accept you as He does and help you grow with all the love and discipline He shows you.
